Terms & Conditions
THE MEMBERSHIP AGREEMENT IS MADE BETWEEN THE PROPRIETORS OF HORIZONS LEISURE CLUB AND THE UNDERSIGNED APPLICANT (“THE MEMBER”). MEMBERSHIP IS ON A ROLLING MEMBERSHIP BASIS WITH NO FIXED TERM; HORIZONS LEISURE CLUB IS A MEMBERS ONLY CLUB.

A MEMBER MAY NOT TRANSFER THEIR MEMBERSHIP TO ANY OTHER PERSON.
Horizons Health & Fitness Club reserves the right to refuse and/or cancel a membership to any person at any time. By signing the Application Form, I / we agree to adhere to ALL the rules stated within the clubs terms and conditions document, which I / we have read.
All members joining Horizons Health & Fitness Club (hereafter referred to as “the Club”) are required to pay one-month membership in advance for the category of membership for which the application is made. Enrolment fees and subscriptions shall be such sums as the Proprietor shall at time to time determine. Payment of such monthly subscriptions shall be payable in such manner as the club sees fit.
Members’ children are eligible for free membership up until their third birthday. After the age of three, members must pay the standard guest price per visit. Members accept all liability and responsibility for their children.
In the event that the Member shall fail to pay their membership fees as required, after two attempts, the club may withdraw membership. In the event that the member is more than 14 days late in paying such membership fees, Horizons Leisure Club & Accommodation reserves the right to take legal action and, if it is felt appropriate, engage the services of a Solicitor (and therefore pass on relevant personal information) to enforce the legal rights hereunder and the cost of collection and reasonable legal fees shall be payable by the member.
Member’s accounts which are placed on hold or are denied access to the club due to financial or administrative reasons are not entitled to a rebate for the period of the membership in which this occurred.
A Couple membership, although comprising of 2 members is deemed as 1 membership. This means that any termination, conversion or freeze period pertains to the couple membership; not one of the individual members.
Durand Membership requires a written letter from the school plus £30 per person as an annual fee if joining for the first time or renewing. There after you are required to pay an entry fee of £2.50 off peak and £4 peak per visit. Durand children pay £15 per year and £1.50 per visit thereafter.
An administration fee of £10.00 will be charged for unpaid bills. This charge will not be relevant to any returns made in error by the bank or Horizons Health & Fitness Club. If charges are made and, at a later date, proved no fault of the member, these charges will be refunded.
THE PROPRIETOR SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO SUSPEND OR EXPEL FROM THE CLUB ANY MEMBER WHOSE CONDUCT IS INJURIOUS TO THE CLUB OR OTHER MEMBERS.
A written explanation shall be given explaining the reason for suspending or expelling a member. The Proprietor retains the right to retain a proportion of monies paid under this agreement to cover any reasonable costs we have incurred as a result.
Without prejudice to the terms of the general release and surrender, it is understood that any damage caused to the property on the premises of Horizons Health & Fitness Club attributable to the Member shall be the Member’s liability that will pay for and make good all damage immediately.
The club is held in private ownership. The Proprietor will provide the Club with premises and everything reasonably necessary for carrying on the Club in accordance with its objectives and the Proprietor will be responsible for expenses connected therewith and for the engagement and payment of staff and all other matters involving the expenditure of money. All initial enrolment fees, subscriptions and receipts shall become property of the Proprietor except so far as it shall permit the same to be utilised to further the objects of the Club but so that no distribution of money or monies worth shall be made to members.
The Club Manager or Director shall have the power to close all or parts of the Club for whatever reasons he considers necessary. No member shall be entitled to a refund of subscription fees should an emergency occur, including, but not limited to maintenance, repair, construction, power failure etc. However if services or parts of the club are unavailable to members for a period prolonged past the stated completion date of planned work; membership will be extended for a period at least long enough to make up for the time the services were unavailable.
ENTRY TO THE CLUB
1. You must enter the club using your membership card at all times.
2. Any lost cards will be replaced at a fee of £5.00
3. Lost of Horizons locker key will result in £15.00 fines. Usage of the facility is subject to the category in which your have applied.
4. All off-peak members are hereby made aware that they are to be exited from the club’s premises BEFORE the peak period begins.
5. Last entry for Off Peak Users will be 30 minutes before the Peak time commences. They also agree that in any instance that they are present outside of the off peak timings they shall incur a £10 fee (subject to change without notification). Last entry for Peak Users will be 30 minutes before the Club closes. All facilities will close 15 minutes before the club closing time. All members must be ready to leave the premises by closing time.
THE ELECTION OF MEMBERS is at the discretion of the Proprietor and in part, the clubs management. All candidates for membership shall complete an application form accompanied by the relevant enrolment fee (should there be one). On notification of election by the Proprietor such candidates will be a member of the Club; he/she shall be entitled to the privileges of membership and he/she shall have read and understood these terms and conditions before signing up.
MEMBERSHIP CONVERSION A Member may alter their membership in accordance with the relevant terms and conditions. They must give 10 days written notice to the Club or Assistant Club Manager to allow for sufficient time for any administration required. This must be done in writing at the club.
FREEZING MEMBERSHIP Members may freeze their membership for a fee of £5.00 per month, for a minimum of one month and a maximum of 3 months. This must be done in writing at the Club. This is available for injured or pregnant members on production of a valid medical certificate or at the discretion of Club Manager for all others. Members may not give notice of cancellation in a ‘FREEZE PERIOD’.
For all practical purposes, where ‘client’ is used throughout this document, it refers to all fee-paying members and their guests. By joining or entering the premises, all clients of Horizons Health and Fitness Club are required to observe the following conditions and agree to do so. They also acknowledge that any liability for accidental injuries sustained anywhere within the complex lies with the individual and not Horizons, its staff or vendors.
General
Food and drinks, including alcohol must be purchased from and consumed in the bar area only. Food and drinks cannot be consumed in any other area of the club. Buggies, scooters and similar items are not allowed in the Club. The club operates a “zero tolerance” policy in respect of bad language and behaviour directed to its staff. Anyone abusing this will have their membership terminated and the matter will be referred to the appropriate authorities. Verbal and/or physical abuse and/or threatening behaviour directed towards other members or guests will not be tolerated. Deliberate misuse of gym equipment or damage to any part of the facility will result in immediate cancellation of membership and will incur the cost of repair to damaged items. Member and/or guest interaction with the installed music and television system is prohibited. This equipment, including volume levels, is only to be operated by Horizons staff. Nothing belonging to the club shall be removed from the club without permission of the Managing Director.
Pool Policy:
Children are allowed to use the pool only until 5.30 pm. When children are taken swimming, the policy is that where there are more than 2 children present there must be at least two responsible adults in the pool at the same time. An adult is deemed to be someone over the age of 18. Other ratios apply as below. These guidelines are set in the interests of the children’s’ safety and are a minimum only. If staff feel any situations are unsafe they will ask children to be removed from the pool. Children below 5 years - 1:1 ratio (adult: child) Children between 5 – 17 years 1:2 ratio (adult: child). Children over 4 years old: Are not allowed in an opposite gender changing room. Parents or legal guardians must make their own arrangements for appropriate supervision for changing and monitoring or allow their children to change or be in the changing room unsupervised and accessing poolside. Parents may allow their child to change in the upstairs changing facility. Running, diving or reckless behaviour is not permitted in or around the pool. Admission of personal items for use in the pool area must be approved by the club manager or instructor. Standard of Dress & Lockers
All guests must wear enclosed footwear in all areas except the change rooms and pool area. Shoes and/or trainers are not permitted on poolside areas. Overshoes must be worn over your regular shoes around the pool and in change rooms at all times. Shirts must be worn at all times in all areas, except the pool area. Shirts with expletives or offensive motifs are not permitted within the club. Members are expected to observe a clean and tidy standard of dress and etiquette at all times. The Company reserves the right to issue specific directions to members when, in its sole discretion, it considers it appropriate to do so, as well as the right to refuse entry of any person or to suspend or terminate a membership if management sees fit. No compensation of unused fees will be given should this occur. Lockers can only be used by members or their paying guests whilst using the facilities and must be vacated at the end of their visit to the Club.
Membership
Potential members must be 18 years old to be considered for membership. All services offered by the club are done so for the benefit of its members and their guests. Horizons is a priority members club and is not open to the general public, therefore use of any facility or participation in scheduled classes/lessons is prohibited to those people who have not become members or those not accompanied by a member unless otherwise permitted by the manager. Clients agree to operate within the periods dictated by their membership category. I.e. an off-peak member agrees to be exited from the premises not less than 5 minutes BEFORE peak time begins. Failure to do so will incur a fee equal to that of the peak guest price, which may be changed without notice. A child swim member is reserved for enrolled children aged 18 or younger for an annual enrolment fee of £15, plus a £1.50 fee per visit. Persons must be enrolled annually on an Adult membership before being eligible. All others are subject to the regular guest price per visit. Swim members must be accompanied and supervised by the adult on the membership for which they are enrolled.
Guests
Guests of members also agree to adhere to the exact same terms and conditions applicable to the member whom signed them in. Times for membership categories can be found in our reception publications. The member whom signs in any guest will be held responsible for their behaviour whilst on the premises. Current guest prices are available at the reception. Any change will be at the owner’s discretion. Guests must be over 18 to use the club. Members may bring 2 guests only per day. Non-members or those people not accompanied by a member are permitted to use the café area and may also supervise children for booked swimming lessons. ‘Supervising’ implies just that. The non-member may not use ANY facilities (including lockers) which are otherwise reserved for fee-paying members.
Management reserves the right of entry and hereby announces their right to cancel membership if they or staff believes any of the above conditions are purposely ignored or generally not adhered to.
Horizons terms and conditions are constantly under review and management reserves the right to change them, including pricing structure, layout, and services offered, opening hours and location at any time. Any such change will be preceded by notice to all members. Notice will be placed on the club notice board for all members to view.
TERMINATION Membership is continuous and payable on a monthly via direct debit; however, a member may terminate their membership by giving UP TO 4 WEEKS NOTICE written notice to the Club Manager (1 direct debit payment)
Membership fees and services offered will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. Members who do not accept any change to the company, including those to these terms and conditions or an increase in subscription fees may terminate their membership by giving notice as per Horizons’ termination policy. Any changes proposed will take effect 2 weeks after a notice has been placed on the member’s board in the reception area informing members of the alterations. It is the member’s responsibility to be vigilant of the notice board, as ignorance will not be accepted as a reason for exception to any change made by the board of directors or management.
HORIZONS LEISURE CLUB WILL NOT SHARE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION GIVEN ON THIS FORM WITH A THIRD PARTY.
